This weekend at BU’s Sports Arena they are hosting a youth Robotics competition and many of the attendees and teams have been stopping by the store to shop. We wish them all luck and hats off to all the teams. Thanks for stopping by the store.
Just want to thank all the folks who helped make this years PAX/East 2011 such an amazing experience. Thanks to all the customers and Strat community members who stopped by to say howdy and share some good times. Thanks to all those who bought lots of our product and best of all, extra special thanks to my staffers and volunteers who helped with the herculean task of moving all the product to and from the store. Thanks to Jules and Cample and Cameron and SC and especially previous Manager, Peter Orfanos. We had a hell of a time and I can’t thank all of you enough, except to look forward to having a better time next year!
D&D Encounters is an exciting, weekly campaign that plays out one epic encounter at a time. As you defeat enemies, solve puzzles, finish quests, and perform heroic deeds, you’ll earn Renown Points that you can use to get exclusive rewards. Each session only takes 1-2* hours to play, so it’s easy to fit your game in after school or work. And each week there’s a new and exciting challenge. Jump in anytime!
*For the first few weeks we will be doing 2-3 hour sessions in order to catch up with the official campaign schedule.
Over sixty years ago, a group of bold adventurers calling themselves the Silver Company delved into a mysterious tower that appeared in the ruins of Castle Inverness. The result was tragic.
Now, six decades later, an ambitious young cleric named Aldus Splintershield seeks to make a name for himself and his clan by founding a new town in the ruins of the infamous castle. And so he has hired you, brave adventurers, to guard against whatever perils may arise from such an expedition.
So prepare yourself and guard against the worst. For in the Nentir Vale, the worst is always on the way.

Traffic this morning was suspiciously light… it made me wonder if everyone was somehow at PAX getting in line for the opening ceremony. This weekend, the equivalent of the ENTIRE TOWNS of Brookline or Waltham will visit PAX East to celebrate their collective love of games. If you’re there, make sure to look for an cheer for Kevin Mullen, who is from Boston and will be competing in the OMEGATHON for fabulous prizes. 😉
Hope to see you there, come play the new set! Bring your friends!!

Brave the weather for our Magic the Gathering Release event this weekend. Elbert Lee, our Magic Man will be hosting on Friday starting at 6pm and will have a regular draft event on Sunday starting at 1pm. We know the burning desire for badass card playing can melt any glaciers forming outside the stores so there will be refreshments and music.
Come one, come all.

It’s that time of year again and much of Boston’s science fiction, fantasy and genre community is getting ready for the weekend of Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday since that means it’s Arisia 2011. One of the area’s largest full spectrum science fiction conventions will be held at an all new venue this year, the Waterfront Westin with lots of space and facilities. There will numerous activities with guests (Kelley Armstrong and Josh Simpson among others), panels, a costume Masquerade, parties of varying intensity, demos from the Higgins Armory Museum as well as movies and Dealer rooms and gaming (LARP, tabletop etc.) galore. Various members of the Strat extended family will attending as will Manager Mike (where he’ll be running the infamous Anime Hell). I’m not sure if PreRegistration is still accepting at this point, but there is usually plenty of day passes and walk-ins. Events begin Friday January 14 and run till Monday 17th.

I’m proud to announce that due to Toys Advanced status with WotC we have been given the chance to hold a GPT for Grand Prix-Atlanta happening in January 2011. This is an extended event on November 20th, and has a $20 entry fee(includes pizza). Registration and deck list creation starts at noon, and the tournament begins at 1PM.
The REL level is 24K. Besides prize the winner gets a three round bye at GP-Atlanta. In addition a second three round bye will be awarded to the second place finisher if we have more than 32 players in the event. Because this is a Premier event deck lists are required and deck checks will be done. Top eight matches are best of three and have no time limit.
