Van Ngo pushes away from his panel, head spinning and heart pounding. His research into Arasaka has revealed two things: the Block is built astride two power grids and a major utility and water artery for the area, making it perfect for manufacturing, and that the new adaptive chip technology Arasaka is planning to produce at the plan could be a godsend to AI researchers. He picks up the phone and reports his findings about the grid to Shiv, building plans in his mind to get a sample of the Arasaka chip for himself.

Back at the block, Shiv and Silver discuss job possibilities together while walking around the Block. Quite suddenly, Shiv begins to become pale and feverish, and is soon bent over throwing up. Silver searches for help only to find that dozens of others in the Block are sick too. She manages to drag Shiv outside just as Bob and Van show up, and they rush Shiv to the hospital.

Diagnosis at the hospital reveals Shiv has contracted a mild case of a strain of Denge fever. He should be okay with bedrest but a serious case would have made it dangerous to even bring him to the hospital because his health would be too frail. Calls back to the Block reveal that at least two dozen people are sick, many worse than Shiv. Shiv buys some antibiotics for himself and begins searching for cheap supplies of antibiotics for his Family.

As they are leaving the hospital, things just get worse as Shiv's cell rings and Frankie reports that he saw a dozen APCs leave the Arasaka office headed for the south side, possibly on their way to evict the inhabitants of the block by force. Yet many of the family members can't be moved now that they're sick. Shiv's head explodes with thoughts of corporate conspiracy as he and the gang races back toward the Block.

The situation is getting desperate. Even a couple APCs of Arasaka troops would tear up his Family, but twelve? The gang wrack their brains to come up with solutions, and Silver and Bob have an idea: Arasaka is mainly a security company, right? If they can create a big enough disturbance at an Arasaka client site, if they can get the guards there to panic, the can trick a recall of the guards who are on the road to respond to the situation.

Shiv races to call as many family members as he can to converge on Centennial Plaza downtown. Van Ngo has a booster gang contact who he's befriended who he calls. Bob turns the car around and they head for the plaza.

Bob gives Shiv the magnesium bombs he lifted from those engineering students he arrested the night before, and Shiv gets out of the car and makes his way into the Centennial Plaza car park. Out front, Family members gather, trying to look casual though they are sorely out of place in this rich commercial district. Nearby, if one were sensitive enough, they would see dozens of boster gang members--bald or with wild hair, tatoos, cybermods, steel toed boots, machetes and submachine guns--stalking through the shadows of the park across the street.

Shiv sets a bomb under a large SUT and runs. A fiery orange explosion knocks him over, and below he can hear the overlapping battle cries of his Family beginning to shoot up the towering glass face of the plaza and the dramatic rush of the boostergang out of the park like an indian war party out of the movies.

Choas ensues. Smoke. Fire. Destruction. Death.
